about

Mining some ambient from an old hard drive, made in tracker software around 2003. I was evidently embarrassed by it at the time as the file name reads "new guitar piece - really self conscious eno rip off" but 20 years distant I don't think it sound like him at all, although perhaps I was going for a discreet music vibe here. I was deep into the 'non-commensurate loops' thing and found that my ancient tracker, with the samples played into a blank pattern allowed me to get the same effect. This was pre-Masters, pre-DAW, pre-having a decent soundcard even. I think my most sophisticated experience of music making at this point was cassette 4 tracks. Listening back I enjoyed the nostalgia and the naivety of it on a spring morning. I miss being able to make music so freely.
